AlphaProteo : Cancer and Diabetes Breakthrough

Google's DeepMind has introduced AlphaProteo, the first AI system to design custom proteins that can bind to specific target molecules.

The specifics:

  • When a binder created by an AI system can be bound with a target protein, the AI system can learn about the target protein which paves the way to drug development and understanding the diseases better.

  • Earlier Google DeepMind's AlphaFold was only able to provide insights about the interactions of proteins with one another, but it cannot develop proteins to target specific molecule or protein interactions.

  • AlphaProteo is the first AI tool which can create a protein binder for diverse target proteins like VEGF-A which is associated with Cancer and diabetes complications. This can help design proteins that can block the growth of Cancer cells or regulate insulin production more effectively.

  • On seven target proteins tested, AlphaProtea is 300 times better than other methods. AlphaProteo is trained from Protein Data Bank (PDB) and more than 100 million predicted structures from AlphaFold

Key Point:

Protein design technology holds lot of potential for understanding the cause of disease to diagnostic test developments for Virus outbreaks. AlphaProteo is a major breakthrough in the biological process of creating custom binders for targeted proteins.

REPLIT : Code with Prompts.

Do you have an idea for an app, but don't know to code? No need to worry, "Replit's AI Agent" can build the App for you.

The specifics:

  • AI coding assistants like Microsoft Copilot, Magic or Cursor can only help you in writing or fixing the code, but Replit's AI agent can scaffold the project, write the code, debug the code if required, and handle deployments too.

  • Truly with Replit, the perspective of Software engineering is taking a complete turn, where the focus is not on building the App but on the idea of the App.

  • Entrepreneurs do not need to wait to build a development team or a developer to code their idea into an app, instead, the entrepreneur themselves can build their code with the help of Replit. It is remarkable, isn't it?

  • All you have to do is input your app idea in the Replit AI agent's prompt input box using natural language and watch Replit build the App for you. Replit also explains along the way the steps it is doing to build the app.

  • Currently, the Replit AI Agent is in beta and available to Replit Core and Teams (Replit Collaborative Coding Platform) subscribers

Key Point:

Replit's AI agent has made NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's words "everybody in the world is now a programmer" a reality. However, we should not take this as such that AI replaces Programmer jobs, instead it should be considered that AI can help you to code. The keyword here is "help" not "replace".

NEO : A Robot helps you with chores

1X technologies have revealed their newest humanoid Robot named "Neo" which is designed to help humans in their homes.

The Specifics:

  • You want someone to help you clean your home, do the dishes, carry groceries, open doors and pick up your backpack; Well, Neo the humanoid Robot can help.

  • NEO is 5.41 feet tall, weighs 66 pounds, can walk up to 2.5 miles per hour and run at 7.5 miles per hour. It can carry 44 pounds and can operate on a single charge for 2-4 hours.

  • 1X team is preparing to ramp up their production of NEO to millions of units by 2028. In 4 years from now, we might have Robots making our meals for us. We are not that far away from this reality.

  • Fascinating as it sounds, the VP of 1X technologies comment emphasizes the importance of safety in NEO's design: "We create robots that are safe, capable and affordable, so we can create robots that can live and learn among us," said Csaba Hartmann, VP of Manufacturing Ops & Engineering.

Key Point:

NEO's development proves that Robots will be blended into our homes to help us in our day-to-day lives just like Smartphones and Computers.
