Meta’s Mobile LLM

The research team comprising of Meta reality labs, Pytorch and Meta AI Research, focussed on optimizing LLMs which are fewer than 1 billion parameters.

• MobileLLM outperforms previous models of similar size by 2.7% to 4.3% on common benchmarks.

• The 350 million parameter version of MobileLLM demonstrated comparable accuracy to the much larger 7 billion parameter LLama-2 model on certain API calling tasks.

• MobileLLM Key innovation includes:

  • Prioritise the model's depth over width.

  • Embedding sharing and Grouped-query attention

  • Immediate block-wise attention technique.

• This model is not available to the public

• Meta has open-sourced the pre-training code, allowing other researchers to build on their work.

Mobile LLM challenges the notion that bigger parameters LLMs are only effective. MobileLLM will open up new ventures for AI focused on smartphones and resource-constrained devices.

OpenAI's roadmap to AGI

OpenAI has unveiled its five-level scale to measure the progress towards AGI. This scale provides a framework for assessing AI capabilities.
