Open AI CEO Sam Altman estimates AGI in five years

PLUS : Generate prompts with Anthropic console

Greetings, AI Explorer’s!

Sam Altman is optimistic that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) can be achieved in five years. But is he too optimistic ?

Unlock the greatness of LLMs using Anthropic console.

Microsoft gave OpenAI Observer seat. Did they give up on OpenAI, what it actually means?

Lets explore!

This Week’s AI Insights:

  • Anthropic Console helps unlock LLM’s capabilities

Unlock LLM using Anthropic console

Anthropic console built-in prompt-generator will help you create high-quality prompts in a matter of seconds.

Why does this matter?

To obtain the best results from LLM's, you will need the best prompts. But to generate the best prompts, you will need to have in-depth knowledge of your application needs. Anthropic console prompt-generator can help here.

The Essentials:

  • The built-in prompt generator will generate high-quality prompts with your simple natural language prompt.

  • You can use Claude's test case generation feature to generate an input variable for your prompt.

  • Test the quality of your prompts by inputting with your real-world test cases or Claude can also generate the test cases for you.

The Takeaway:

  • Generate high-quality prompts, evaluate the prompts with test cases, refine the prompts and then compare your version of the prompts to find the best prompt.

  • All this can be achieved in the Anthropic Claude console, and with this, you probably would not need to have in-depth knowledge of the application.

No-code AWS AI App Studio

Software development skills are not required now to build enterprise-grade applications. All you need to know is the AWS AI App Studio.

Why does this matter?

  • With natural language, users can create enterprise-grade applications in minutes without any software development skills.

The Essentials:

  • Using natural language, users can create a multi-page UI with custom business logic without writing any code.

  • App Studio is a SaaS offering so users need not worry about infrastructure or operational overhead.

  • With App Studio, it's free to build an application. Users pay only when end-users start using the application.

The Takeaway:

No-code tools are the new realm for building software products. All you need to do is describe what kind of application you would need to build in the best possible way. AWS AI App studio will build the app for you!

Meta’s Mobile LLM

Image preview

The research team comprising of Meta reality labs, Pytorch and Meta AI Research, focussed on optimizing LLMs which are fewer than 1 billion parameters.

The Essentials:

  • MobileLLM outperforms previous models of similar size by 2.7% to 4.3% on common benchmarks.

  • The 350 million parameter version of MobileLLM demonstrated comparable accuracy to the much larger 7 billion parameter LLama-2 model on certain API calling tasks.

  • MobileLLM Key innovation includes:

    • Prioritise the model's depth over width.

    • Embedding sharing and Grouped-query attention

    • Immediate block-wise attention technique.

  • This model is not available to the public

  • Meta has open-sourced the pre-training code, allowing other researchers to build on their work.

The Takeaway:

Mobile LLM challenges the notion that bigger parameters LLMs are only effective. MobileLLM will open up new ventures for AI focused on smartphones and resource-constrained devices.

OpenAI's roadmap to AGI

OpenAI has unveiled its five-level scale to measure the progress towards AGI. This scale provides a framework for assessing AI capabilities.

The Essentials:

  • The Five-level OpenAI scale:

    • Level 1: Current AI like ChatGPT

    • Level 2: AI solving PhD level problems.

    • Level 3: AI Agents performing user's tasks

    • Level 4: AI generating innovations

    • Level 5: AI performing tasks equivalent to organizations of people. The AGI.

  • OpenAI is currently approaching Level 2.

  • OpenAI defines AGI as, "highly autonomous systems surpassing humans in most economically valuable work"

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman estimates AGI could be achieved in "five years, give or take"

The Takeaway:

OpenAI's five-level scale acts as a framework to measure the progress towards AGI. While Sam Altman has suggested AGI could be achieved within five years is certainly optimistic and uncertain.
